making new friends and having many experiences!

Jambo! (hello  in Ugandan). I am doing well. I have experienced much since I have been here. It has only been 4 days. I have experienced Ugandan driving, showering/using restrooms in villages, eaten local food, been to the local markets, talked with the natives about life and attended a burial. All have long stories. I am currently in Iganga at an internet cafe. I am here with Noah (dad), David (his son), Arnold (Davids nephew), Brenda, Courtney, Anna, and Christine. Christine did the same thing here last yeat that Brenda, Courtney and I will be doing. It is helpful to have her around since she knows the ropes. Anna is will be working with Christine. They will stay in Iganga for 4 weeks working with orphan girls that live at Noah’s facility. My team will start our VBS program tomorrow in different villages around Iganga. We are looking forward to teaching and meeting the kids. We believe we are comfortable enought to jump into this. David will be our translater and he is great so that is one less concern for us. All of us girls have become fast friends and are very comfortable around each other. Especially after showering (more on that later).  My team will travel back to Kampala on Thursday and head to Lira on Saturday. We will attend a church wedding on Saturday.  (A non-christian wedding is called an introduction.) But I am looking forward to it. Pastor Jake will travel with us to Lira, so we are not totally on our own yet. Finding our way aroud Uganda in taxi’s still scares me greatly. But this is all I have time to tell right now. I hope to blog again on Thursday, as well as post picture! Miss you all!

Sounds fantastic! We’re (Nick, Joy, Cade, Ava, Grandma H) just sitting here on Kelley’s Island watching the ferry unload while enjoying ice cream! It’s a beautiful but chilly day. We can’t wait to see pictures and hear more about your adventures!! God’s blessings on your time there.

Sounds like a great experience. Now stop trying to trick me into making shower scene jokes.

How have you packed sooo much into just 4 days?!! I can’t wait to hear all the stories in full detail!! Good luck with your first day of Vacation Bible School tomorrow! I still think letting the kids cut out all those flannel graph characters would have been an awesome lesson!! ;)

Glad everything is going well! Can’t wait to hear the stories. I got your mail yesterday. You had something from Heritage Trust and Quest Diagnostics. Do you need me to open them and let you know what they are about? Don’t worry, Chad hasn’t touched your car, yet…Miss ya!

No Chad I have not found Kamala. In fact I asked some of the missionaries here about him and they have never heard of him in the states. I bet the locals haven’t either.

Dawn, don’t worry about that HT mail. I get those every so often. I am glad to hear you have saved my car from Chad. I hope you can keep that up till I get back! I miss you too!
